Assistant Camp Director


Camp Edge is seeking an energetic and motivated team member to serve as our Assistant Camp Director at Camp Edge. In this position you will be assisting in all facets of camp operations, programming and compliance. Camp Edge offers a variety of Camps during the season and you will play an important role in providing our campers with a memorable and safe experience.A complete job description is listed below:

Position Summary:

· Support the Core Values of Ranch Hope by upholding all standards relating to quality, partnership, integrity, empowerment, stewardship, safety and compassion. Candidates should possess excellent communication skills, be passionate about the ministry, and be a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. The Assistant Camp Director will provide leadership and discipleship to seasonal staff and will provide quality experiences to all campers who visit Camp Edge

Knowledge

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programs to include Word, Excel, Publisher, Powerpoint and Outlook
  • Thorough understanding of NJ Youth Camp licensing and reporting requirements

· Ability to effectively lead counselors and campers

· Ability to assist Camp Director with maintenance projects

· Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities

· Ability to make sound and prompt decisions

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion relating to all departmental issues
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that meets the varying needs of camp activities

Duties & Responsibilities:

· Provide opportunities that encourage the spiritual growth of campers, staff, community

· Establish relationships with campers, Ranch Hope staff, Auxiliary members and the community

· Assist with planning and delivery of seasonal camp programming

· Assist with planning and delivery of programming for medically fragile, developmentally disabled and behaviorally challenged campers

· Effectively plan and promote special events and fundraisers

· Participate in public speaking opportunities to support and promote the camp

· Prepare Camp Edge facilities for special events

· Assist in performing needed maintenance, cleaning, repairs and wildlife management to ensure safety and quality of Camp Edge facility

· Utilize trauma informed care and Nurtured Heart Approach in interactions with Ranch Hope youth

· Ensure compliance with all facets of NJ Camp licensing standards

· Ensure safety of facility, campers and staff

· Perform routine facility inspections

· Maintain required paperwork relating to employee background checks, medical insurance, camper registration, etc.

· Facilitate Ropes Course

· Manage all incoming mail and e-mail correspondence for the Camp

· Answer office phone and respond to voice mails

· Create documents and brochures for the Camp

· Organize Camp office and applicable deadlines by updating needed folders, logs, spreadsheets and Outlook Calendars

Education & Professional Experience:

· Bachelors Degree in recreation, camp management, biblical counseling or related field

· Three years of experience working in a camp, ministry or social work field

Certifications/Licenses Required:

  • Must possess valid NJ Driver License
  • Maintain CPR and First Aid Certification
  • Life Guard Certification
  • Ropes Course Facilitator Certification

Physical Abilities:

  • Hearing and speaking to exchange information
  • Seeing to read materials and correspondence
  • Dexterity of the hands and fingers to operate business equipment
  • Ability to concentrate on subject matter for extended periods of time
  • Standing, kneeling and bending for short periods of time
  • Sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds
  • Walking, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, bending over at the waist, grasping, reaching overhead, pulling and pushing as required by the job

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 per hour
