Position & Responsibilities

The primary task of the Development Associate is to work closely with the Development Director to ensure accurate and timely processing of gifts and acknowledgments, manage data entry, data updates and imports, and reporting of information using Hopeworks donor database/CRM (Salesforce). The position will provide support for the planning and execution of donor communication and campaigns to expand philanthropic support.

Specifically, this position will:


Donor Database/CRM Management (20%)

  • Develop, document, and update policies and procedures that support the use of various fundraising tools (Salesforce, Funraise, Double Your Donation, Wealth Engine, etc.)
  • Manage and maintain donor systems including responsibility for data entry, gift processing, integrations with online giving platforms, data clean-up, and reporting.
  • Support regularly scheduled donor database cleaning.
  • Coordinate and troubleshoot donor records for improved donor segmentation.


Donor Identification, Cultivation & Stewardship (50%)

  • Prepare donor correspondence in a timely manner, including thank you letters, new donor packets, and phone or email follow-up with donors as needed.
  • Assist Development Director with implementation of fundraising communications, including: invitations, solicitations, pledges, and follow-up correspondence.
  • Establish and manage information tracking for cultivation of past and current donors to enhance their relationship with Hopeworks and increase the likelihood of continued contributions.
  • Assist with prospect research and develop prospect profiles by utilizing WealthEngine.
  • Manage the monthly donor program and communications with monthly donors.
  • Manage the matching gifts program.
  • Manage peer-to-peer fundraisers and handle communications via Facebook fundraisers.


Other Development Support (30%)

  • Act as the first line of communication for the development department.
  • Assist in creating and updating collateral, fundraising materials, and publications.
  • Support annual events including Hackathon, Pitch Competition, and Code Day.
  • Assist in planning and creating fundraising communications including social media and email marketing.
  • Provide monthly reporting on KPIs using Salesforce.
  • Support the preparation of grant applications.
  • Coordinate all state registration and compliance requirements with a third party vendor.
  • Provide administrative support for all current and future development projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • At least two years of demonstrated experience in fundraising/donor support within a nonprofit setting
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience.


Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated experience in donor support within a nonprofit setting
  • Prior experience working with constituent data management systems (i.e., DonorPerfect, Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge, etc.)
  • Prior experience supporting a team, preferably in non-profit fundraising.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience and proficiency with computer applications including MS Office Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel. Comfortable with computer applications and web-based applications.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills with internal staff, external corporate partners, donors, funders, volunteers, and vendors
  • Proven analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Agility to work independently across multiple, simultaneous projects and meet deadlines with attention to detail.
  • Ability to promote a culture of respect, inclusiveness, and appreciation of diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and values.

Education and Experience Required
