Description:

Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Strategic Initiatives, the Director of Education will work with NJHA leadership to develop and operationalize the strategies to position NJHA as a premier continuing education provider. The Director will collaborate with matrixed teams to align member education needs and the goals of NJHA’s Education Department. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of clinical and professional continuing education,  instructional design principles, and  have a proven track record of identifying successful business opportunities. 

Successful candidates will be able to translate the needs of the Department into clear action steps where there is a technology solution.  Candidates will be responsible for  effectively managing the education activities of NJHA and ensuring programs deliver value and contribute to NJHA’s overall business objectives, while in compliance with NJHA and credentialing agency policies, standards, and guidelines. The Director must possess a keen attention to detail, collaborate well with others, stay on top of healthcare industry development, and be flexible enough to work in a changing environment.

The Director will be responsible for overseeing technical operations of the NJHA’s Learning Management System, working with IT to manage NJHA’s LMS and evaluate new technology to support NJHA’s Education.  The Director will provide leadership to the Education team, including those matrixed but not directly reporting to the Director.  The Director will maintain a high level of healthcare knowledge, professional credibility, and ethical standards in all interactions with internal stakeholders, association members, healthcare professionals, and other audiences in order to serve as a trusted partner in Education.


KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Maintain NJHA’s accredited provider status with MSNJ, NJSNA, CLE, ACHE, NJDOH and other future accrediting organizations pursued
  • Lead and effectively manage efforts:
    • to clearly identify the educational needs of NJHA members and stakeholders
    • to manage the design and development of a portfolio of courses and programs delivered in various instructional design modalities (online, hybrid, in person)
    • collaborate closely with subject matter experts, internal and external, to develop course design, s and
    • Oversee, maintain, and enhance NJHA’s LMS for end users
    • to ensure and monitor compliance of educational activities with NJHA and credentialing agency policies, standards, and guidelines
  • Follow changes in healthcare to keep informed of education needs and work with internal stakeholders to identify membership education needs
  • Manage program design, operations, delivery, and evaluation for a broad range of educational activities both live and on-demand content on LMS
  • Identify and recruit faculty
  • Provide guidance and assistance to program planners for program implementation
  • Manage relationships prior to, during, and after programs with prospective and contracted faculty and program participants
  • Timely ensure all logistics are in place for and support events, including advertising, registration, credits, venue, food, and other related resources
  • Assess quality and work to continuously improve education content and user-experience
  • Business planning to ensure development and expansion of education activities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies, protocols, and procedures, automating and innovating where       possible
  • Identify short, mid-, and long-term goals for programming and initiatives
  • Develop and produce quantitative and qualitative reports to enhance Education offerings, evaluations, and marketing / outreach

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5-7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.  Master’s degree and Instructional Design experience is preferred
  • At least 5 years previous experience in designing high-quality, interactive education programs
  • In-depth experience in online learning, project management, program and design development, and implementation of education programs
  • Demonstrated business acumen, proven ability to establish and maintain productive business relationships, and deliver results in a timely manner
  • Ability to research relevant literature, effectively put concepts into perspective, and communicate relevant information to a variety of audiences
  • Ability to operate with a high degree of independent judgement and initiative
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Highly advanced organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects
  • Must be detail oriented, pragmatic, and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong strategic and creative thinking abilities
  • Strong computer skills, proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs including Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Articulate 360, and various database
  • Strong team leadership and communication skills, with experience managing, coaching, and motivating people, and managing through change
  • Enthusiastic and approachable with ability to work well with people at all levels in the organization
