Director of Senior Services

Reports To: Executive Director

Primary Responsibility: Visionary leader for Senior Services Department and its development of programming. Oversee Senior Services Department’s policies, procedures, and goals, including involvement in budgetary, grant deadlines, and supervision of staff within department. Maintain a client caseload providing services to maintain and improve functioning of senior clients and their families, while supervising other Senior Services staff and overseeing the coordination of Senior Services staff meetings.

Specific Responsibilities:

·         Oversee the Department’s development of programming, including facilitation of services and support groups.

·        Oversee Department specific programs, such as Patient Partners, Catered Home Delivered Meals, and Cooking Companions

·         Partake in grant writing efforts, including ensuring submission by stated deadlines, and gathering of necessary statistics.

·         Participate in regular budgetary meetings to ensure outcomes are in line with expectations.

·         Ensure the departmental intake procedure for all new calls, counseling and senior services cases with proper and timely case assignment based on services being requested.

·         Provide consultations with clients as well as new intakes and refer to proper agencies for additional resources.

·         Represent the Department and Agency at Outreach initiatives through Health Fairs, Advocacy, public speaking, and committee events.

·         Maintain oversight of ongoing departmental administrative tasks and assignments, including COA accreditation and maintenance of accreditation, and homecare department standards.

·         Quality Assurance/Utilization Review team participant.

·         Coordinate all Senior Services Department staff meetings and trainings.

·         Oversight of Senior Services Resource Guide.

·         Troubleshoot client issues and customer service.

·         Problem solve with intra and interagency concerns and issues.

·         Provide direct counseling and/or case management services to Senior Services clients.

·         Maintain case records which meet agency, state, and COA regulations.

·         Supervise and evaluate social work staff, including observation of offsite groups and contract work.

·         Responsible for training new staff and students.

·         Provide specific responsibilities identified in Geriatric Social Worker position.


·         Masters degree in Social Work

·         Knowledge of Jewish culture and management of the geriatric population

·         LCSW preferred

·         Knowledge of community resources and their development, with specific focus on caregivers.

·         Five years post graduate degree experience in a direct service position

·         Supervisory experience
