RPM Engineering is an expanding small business focused on Geotechnical Engineering and Construction Material Testing. We are an established firm with over 60 years experience between our leadership team. RPM Engineering is located in West Deptford, NJ. We are seeking to add multiple full-time Geotechnical Specialists to our growing team, specifically to work on the New Jersey Wind Port project.
The New Jersey Wind Port is the nation’s first purpose-built offshore wind marshaling port, promising to position New Jersey as a hub for the U.S. offshore wind industry. Located on the eastern shore of the Delaware River in Lower Alloways Creek, Salem County, New Jersey, the port will be the first purpose-built wind port on the East Coast, with no vertical restrictions and easy access to more than 50 percent of available U.S. offshore wind lease areas. The current phase of work is expected to be completed in April 2024, but construction activities are anticipated through at least 2027.
Due to the volume of work occurring on-site at the New Jersey Wind Port, RPM is seeking qualified and experience candidates to oversee various construction activities. The Geotechnical Specialist will be responsible for conducting on-site construction phase observation and materials testing for task such as deep and shallow foundation construction, ground improvement, earthwork, and concrete placement. Job Responsibilities:
Typical working hours are Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 5:00pm
Occasionally site work will require over-night or on weekend work
On-site construction site inspection and testing of soil, concrete, asphalt and other items
On-site observation and logging of deep foundation and ground improvement systems
Detailed data collection and daily field report writing for all of the above
Transporting masonry samples to a third-party testing laboratory
Requirements
Full-time position
Relative experience in below-grade and above grade construction means and methods
Reliable transportation
Willing to work outdoors and on construction sites
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (including Excel, Word, and Outlook)
Preferred Attributes
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or similar technical field a plus
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) certification
Certification with American Concrete Institute (ACI), New Jersey Society of Asphalt Technicians (NJSAT), International Code Council (ICC), Troxler or equivalent Nuclear Safety Training are all desired
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Dependable and able to work independently and as part of a team
Experience conducting construction phase reviews and materials testing a plus
Practical experience is strongly desired
Compensation and Benefits
$25 to $35 per hour commensurate with experience
Shift differential for over-night work
Overtime for all time worked in excess of 40 hours per week
