Full Job Description
Ranch Hope is recruiting two new members for our Allied Therapy team. In this role you will facilitate relevant activities that support the treatment goals for youth that are receiving therapy for a variety of adverse childhood experiences.
A degree in physical education, recreation therapy or related field is required for applicants.

Position Summary:
Support the Core Values of Ranch Hope by upholding all standards relating to quality, partnership, integrity, safety, empowerment, stewardship and compassion. Under supervision of the Allied Therapy Director, work with other members of the treatment team to provide allied therapy and recreational activities to youth in a holistic environment. All services provided will promote the emotional, spiritual & social growth of our youth and will emphasize positive, professional role modeling as well as interpersonal relationships.
Knowledge:
· Understanding of the treatment of complex trauma
· Understand the importance of using allied therapy to assist youth in the communication and expression of their feelings
· Knowledge of State and Federal laws regarding client/student rights to privacy
· Understanding of relevant reporting requirements for the State of New Jersey
· Understanding and compliance with staff to resident ratios required by licensing
· Understanding and compliance with all Ranch Hope policies and procedures
Skills/Abilities:
· Ability to easily establish and maintain relationships with adolescents
· Ability to use Nurtured Heart Approach
· Ability to recognize trauma triggers and coping mechanisms for youth
· Ability to serve as a positive and professional role model through compassionate, nurturing, empathetic and tolerant interpersonal communications
· Ability to demonstrate respect, cooperation, consideration and tact in working with subordinates, peers, supervisors, vendors and others
· Ability to diffuse agitated or disruptive situations through use of supportive/directive responses
· Ability to utilize crisis intervention techniques to resolve escalating behavior

· Ability to remain aware of the location of all supervised residents while managing multiple priorities
· Ability to be punctual and attend all scheduled work shifts on a consistent basis
Duties & Responsibilities:
· Provide a warm superior client service experience to youth
· Work with treatment team to support the treatment goals for each resident
· Develop and maintain positive healthy relationships with residents through use of Nurtured Heart Approach
· Plan and deliver allied therapy that is unique to the interest of the individual youth
· Plan and facilitate group activities that will assist residents in developing positive strategies for emotional release
· Serve as Life Skills instructor
· Plan and facilitate group activities that will educate residents on positive coping strategies, stress and anger management
· Plan and deliver movement therapy activities that will assist youth in understanding the importance of nurturing and caring for their bodies
· Plan and deliver art therapy activities that will assist residents in using art to communicate their thoughts, feelings and experiences
· Plan and deliver music therapy activities that will assist residents in using music as a creative outlet for coping strategies and self expression
· Plan and deliver therapeutic recreational activities and discussion groups that challenge the mind, improve the physical body and assist with socialization
· Supervise the interactions and activities of youth in individual and group setting and set boundaries as needed
· Assist in planning and supervising activities that provide positive reinforcement and a strength based focus
· Support understanding of life skills curriculum by supervising activities that reinforce content
· Maintain required staff to resident ratios of 1:5
· Effectively anticipate, redirect and respond to crisis and emergency situations in a timely manner
· Provide basic care and guidance to youth relating to personal hygiene, routine health and medical care
· Participate in a variety of structured leisure time activities as well as events to foster social, emotional and spiritual growth
