The South Jersey Summer Institute for Educators. - Chamber of Commerce Southern New Jersey
Jefferson Health – New Jersey recently hosted 11 teachers of students in grades 5-12 from schools throughout the region, as part of the three-week South Jersey Summer Institute for Educators, established by the Chamber of Commerce Southern New Jersey 30 years ago.
The annual summer program helps regional educators visit area businesses and keep pace with changes in the business community — while also providing them with tools to better prepare the future workforce, their students. Since its inception, 638 teachers from dozens of South Jersey schools have “graduated” from the institute, reaching more than 60,000 students with information they learned.
At the event, Jefferson Health – New Jersey President Brian Sweeney spoke about the health system’s current state and future growth. Jefferson Cherry Hill Hospital Vice President of Operations Lisa Dutterer presented on programs and services offered at the campus. Later, Jefferson Medical Group VP of Ambulatory Operations Amanda Kimmel discussed steps Jefferson is taking to address increased mental health illness due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Human Resources Assistant VP Bridget Feery, and VP of Talent Acquisition Michele Miron, shared information about employees Jefferson seeks, and various roles offered in a hospital system.
The program concluded with a tour of the seven-story, $250 million-plus revitalized Jefferson Cherry Hill Hospital campus, including the Patient Pavilion, which opened in December 2020.
