ASAH is a professional organization of private schools and agencies in New Jersey which provides highly specialized services to over 10,000 infants, children and young adults with disabilities. ASAH was founded in 1974 by 13 private schools.  It now serves more than 129 school locations.  It developed the first code of ethics and standards for New Jersey’s private special education programs.   ASAH recommended and participated in the initial development of program monitoring by the NJ Department of Education and worked closely with the Department of Education to develop the private school code which is still in place today.
