CCSNJ and CBA Push for Minority and Women-Owned Businesses Package Passage in Assembly

Legislative Updates General Business 220th Legislative Session
On March 8, the CCSNJ jointly with the Camden Business Association (CBA) sent a letter to Speaker Craig Coughlin urging the passage of a package of legislation that would aid in the development and growth of minority and women-owned businesses in New Jersey.

The CCSNJ was proud to support this bill package as it moved through the New Jersey Senate. The bill package includes:

  • S–2768 (Singleton/Ruiz) - Authorizes State Chief Diversity Officer to conduct disparity study concerning utilization of minority-owned and women-owned businesses in State procurement process.
  • S-2769 (Singleton/Ruiz) - Establishes "Minority Business Development Program" in EDA; appropriates $50 million to EDA from federal funds.
  • S-2770 (Singleton/Ruiz) - Establishes position of Minority Depository Institution Coordinator in EDA.
  • S-2771 (Singleton)- Establishes "Rural Business Development Program" in EDA; appropriates $35 million to EDA from federal funds.
  • S-2772 (Singleton) - Establishes "Biannual Business Matchmaker Initiative" in Department of State.
