Governor Murphy Announces Additional CARES Act Funding for Workforce Development

On October 21, Governor Murphy, with Congressman Donald Norcross, announced an additional $14 million in CARES Act funding for Workforce Development Programs. The funding will be allocated in the following ways:

  • $4 million to hiring dislocated and long-term unemployed workers into temporary jobs tied to the fight against COVID19
  • $3 million to provide customized job training and skills development for positions left vacant because of pandemic-related layoffs or cuts in hours
  • $7 million into expanding career support services coordinated by the Workforce Investment Boards throughout the state
