On January 13, CCSNJ attended Governor Murphy’s final State of the State address, during which he reflected on eight years of governing under the theme of building a “stronger and fairer” New Jersey. The Governor emphasized that his administration sought to balance economic growth with fairness for working families, pointing to what he described as a period of strong economic performance paired with long-term fiscal stability. He cited multiple credit rating upgrades, full pension payments, and sustained job creation as evidence that the state’s economy is on solid footing. Governor Murphy also highlighted record levels of property tax relief, expanded support for working families, and continued investments in education and workforce development, including tuition-free community college programs and sustained funding for K-12 schools. Additionally, he underscored efforts to position New Jersey for future competitiveness through innovation-driven initiatives, investments in artificial intelligence, and support for emerging industries. The address concluded with a call for continued collaboration among government, business, and labor, which the Governor identified as essential to New Jersey’s progress and its transition to the next chapter.
