Governor Murphy Delivers Second Inaugural Address
On January 18, Governor Murphy was sworn into his second term as Governor, becoming the first Democratic New Jersey governor to be re-elected since 1977. In the Governor's second Inaugural Address, Governor Murphy highlighted his goals for the second term, including making health care more affordable, making higher education more accessible and lowering property taxes. The Governor also stated his intention to strengthen gun-control laws and expand voting rights. Additionally, the Governor outlined some of his economic agenda items for the second term, which include growing the clean energy industry in New Jersey, as well as the television and film production industry, the cannabis industry, online gaming and sports betting. The Governor also noted the importance of small businesses, stating it is "the small businesses that turn Main Street from just a strip of pavement into the center of a thriving community."
