On November 30, the Joint Budget Oversight Committee (JBOC) approved $700 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARP) and New Jersey Debt Defeasance and Prevention Fund spending, as proposed by Governor Murphy.
South Jersey projects included among the ARP funding include:
- $20 million to support Inspira’s proposed acquisition of the Salem Medical Center
- $10 million to help construct a new community center in Pennsauken Township
- $5 million to help the state expand a marketing program to highlight the benefits of doing business in New Jersey.
Also approved were the following South Jersey-based capital projects, which will be funded from the New Jersey Debt Defeasance and Prevention Fund:
- $265 million to the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) for the New Jersey Wind Port
- $75 million for the construction of the Rowan University School of Veterinary Medicine
- $45 million to the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) for Wind Port Dredging
- $35 million to the South Jersey Port Corporation (SJPC) Port for upgrades and improvements
- $15 million to Cooper Medical School of Rowan University
