New Lawmakers Sworn In at 222nd Legislative Reorganization

On January 13, CCSNJ attended the 222nd legislative reorganization. Twelve new Assemblymembers were sworn in, including two new members from South Jersey. Democrats now hold a majority of 57-23.


Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin was elect to his fifth term as Assembly Speaker and is the longest-serving speaker in New Jersey history.


Assembly Majority Leader Louis Greenwald begins his eighth term as Majority Leader.


New Assemblymembers include:

2nd Legislative District: Assemblywoman Maureen Rowan (D-Atlantic City)


8th Legislative District: Assemblyman Anthony Angelozzi (D-Hammonton)


20th Legislative District: Assemblyman Ed Rodriguez (D-Elizabeth)


21st Legislative District: Assemblyman Andrew Macurdy (D-Summit) and Assemblyman Vincent Kearney (D-Garwood)


25th Legislative District: Assemblywoman Marisa Sweeney (D-Morristown)


28th Legislative District: Assemblyman Chigozie Onyema (D-Newark)


31st Legislative District: Assemblyman Jerry Walker (D-Jersey City)


32nd Legislative District: Assemblyman Ravi Bhalla (D-Hoboken) and Assemblywoman Katie Brennan (D-Jersey City)


33rd Legislative District: Assemblyman Larry Wainstein (D-North Bergen)


35th Legislative District: Assemblyman Kenyatta Stewart (D-Paterson)
