On October 28, CCSNJ President & CEO Christina Renna joined NJ TRANSIT President & CEO Kris Kolluri and state, county and community leaders in Blackwood for the announcement of CG Hopper, a new free, on-demand transportation service for seniors and people with disabilities in Camden and Gloucester counties. Operated by CCSNJ member, Via in partnership with NJ TRANSIT, Senior Citizens United Community Services (SCUCS) and both counties, CG Hopper will provide accessible, curb-to-curb transportation for residents ages 60 and older and people with disabilities. The service will allow eligible residents to travel across county lines for medical appointments, grocery shopping, social activities and other everyday needs, while also providing connections to NJ TRANSIT bus, rail and light rail services. Rides can be booked through the CG Hopper app, online or by phone, and the fleet includes five accessible vehicles. During her remarks, Ms. Renna highlighted the Chamber's ongoing work with SJ Connects, another free, ADA-compliant microtransit initiative serving South Jersey, and the growing importance of flexible transportation options in a region where traditional public transit is not always readily available. She emphasized that transportation is not only about supporting economic development and connecting people to jobs, but also about providing residents with the independence and mobility they need in their everyday lives. The CCSNJ applauds NJ TRANSIT and its partners for bringing this much-needed service to South Jersey. Programs like CG Hopper and SJ Connects are helping to address transportation challenges that have existed in our region for years, and CCSNJ hopes to see continued investment in these types of services throughout South Jersey.
