Legislative Updates

Small Business Bills Become Law

On October 16, Acting Governor Tahesha Way signed two bills into law that promote procurement and education opportunities for small businesses.

The first bill A-3424/S-1447 (Sumter/Reynolds-Jackson/Moen/Singleton/Turner) requires the New Jersey Department of Treasury, in partnership with the New Jersey Business Action Center (NJBAC), to host an “Annual Business Matchmaking Event” to connect small businesses with federal, state, and local government agencies and contractors.

The second bill A4751/S3400 (Mosquera/Speight/DeAngelo/Zwicker/Ruiz) requires the NJBAC to establish a mentorship program that matches experienced business entities with new or less experienced small businesses seeking to learn and grow from those more established in their industry.

The CCSNJ was proud to support these measures as they moved through the legislative process.
