A Philadelphia-based cancer organization dedicated to helping families nationwide navigate cancer is offering a virtual variety show designed to entertain and inspire families and individuals during stay-at-home orders while honoring healthcare professionals treating cancer patients exclusively on YouTube on Friday, June 19 at 7 p.m. The HEADstrong Foundation’s Limelight Gala presented by IBEW98 and headline by musical acts G. Love, Ryan Cabrera, Abby Anderson, Evie Clair and others will be streamed across YouTube Live at https://youtu.be/-DtFXNfFAxo and HEADstrong Foundation’s social media channels (@HEADstrongFND) on Friday, June 19 at 7 p.m. The HEADstrong Foundation will allocate 100-percent of the proceeds collected during the Limelight Gala virtual variety show to assist families battling cancer and seeking treatment while residing at Nick’s House, a guest residence that welcomes families to Philadelphia during the most critical, vulnerable and desperate time of their lives as they pursue lifesaving treatment only available. In addition to the online program, the event will feature a silent auction featuring experiences, sports memorabilia, luxury items and more. “Our Limelight Gala virtual variety show promises to be an awe-inspiring night of entertainment and recognition to those on the front lines battling cancer,” said Cheryl Colleluori, President, HEADstrong Foundation. “With special guests, honorees, an array of amazing performances, and a three-time cancer survivor we look forward to providing a night for families across the region to gather in front of their screens and enjoy while learning about how they can join us in our mission of helping families in the most essential time.” “The COVID-19 pandemic has added a layer of complexity for those navigating a pre-existing cancer fight,” added Colleluori. “Delays in treatment have posed several challenges for those requiring necessary and time sensitive treatments. The economic impact has been equally devastating and the need for funding is at an all-time high. Hopefully, through our virtual variety show we can help ease that burden.” The HEADstrong Foundation relies on funding generated from an annual gala the organization usually hosts in March.
