The Battleship New Jersey Museum and Memorial will hold its Annual Admiral Halsey Awards Dinner on Thursday, May 11, 2023, onboard the ship. The awards, named for Fleet Admiral William F. Halsey, Jr., will recognize major contributions to the areas of business, military service, and public service.
The award for business leadership in the region recognizes those who lead with integrity and a strong sense of community. This award honors an individual who direction has made their organization a leader in the Delaware River region and demonstrates community partnership through volunteer programs. This year’s award honors Mark McDonough, President of New Jersey American Water.
The Halsey Military Service award honors a service member whose commitment to the ideals of the U.S. military is reflected both in their career and their service to others. This person also has an unwavering support of the U.S. Navy and a personal connection to the U.S.S. New Jersey. The award for military service will be presented to Former Navy Secretary Kenneth J. Braithwaite, II.
The third award will recognize the innovation, creative achievements and contributions of public sector leaders who strive to improve all aspects of the Delaware River region. This year’s awardee for public service is New Jersey Governor Christine Todd Whitman.
The event includes a nice dinner, open bar, silent auction and entertainment on the fantail of the Battleship. This year’s event will be hosted by ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio.
