
Celebrate Lunar New Year at Perkins Center for the Arts
Join Perkins Center for the Arts on February 14 from 11:00 AM–1:00 PM for a vibrant Lunar New Year celebration welcoming the Year of the Horse. This free, family-friendly event highlights traditional arts, performances, and hands-on activities that honor the cultural significance of the holiday.
Enjoy:
Guzheng Performance – Experience the rich, expressive sound of the guzheng, a traditional Chinese plucked string instrument.
Couplet Painting – Learn how to create symbolic New Year couplets, a classic tradition rooted in poetry, calligraphy, and well-wishing.
Sumi Brush Painting – Watch a live ink wash painting demonstration and learn about traditional imagery and techniques.
Lion Dance Performance – Get a front-row view of a dynamic and colorful Lion Dance by the Penn Lions, featuring acrobatics, rhythm, and ceremonial movement.
Important note:
The Lion Dance performance begins promptly at 1:00 PM and will take place outside on the driveway side of the Perkins building.
