About this Event: As a response to the recent rise in anti-Asian hate violence, Philly Fighting Asian Hate is an event that will provide free self-defense classes for the AAPI community in Philly on May 22-23, during AAPI Heritage Month. 

The event's mission is to fight against anti-Asian hate, and empower the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community through self-awareness and self-defense training and education. The event is community focused, and volunteer-run and operated. 

Event Details: Learn basic self-awareness and self-defense techniques to protect and defend yourself in this 50-minute class. Practice real-world techniques with martial arts instructors and students. Spaces are limited. By registering, you are confirming your attendance. If you are unable to attend, please cancel your reservation at least 24-hours in advance so that other members of the community can get access to this training. Recommended age: 13+ (minors must be accompanied by an adult).

About the Instructor: We are proud to partner with Grandmaster Eng, a championship Kung Fu Grandmaster and 3rd generation disciple of the Ip Man Wing Chun Kung Fu family. With more than forty-five years of training, Grandmaster Eng is also a lifetime member and certified Master Instructor in the Hong Kong Ving Tsun Athletic Association. In 2002, Grandmaster Eng founded the USA Wing Chun Kuen Association. In 2006, Grandmaster Eng opened the premier Wing Chun School of Philadelphia, bringing traditional training in a contemporary light. Under his practice and guidance, his students gain confidence, strength, speed, and courage.
