The Funplex Expands Sensory-Friendly Swim Lessons to Mount Laurel and East Hanover —a Free Event on Thursday, June 25th 

Family entertainment center and water park will host free water safety lessons, including the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson™ at Mount Laurel and Sensory-Friendly Swim Lessons at both park locations. 

WHAT: 

The Funplex will host free swim lesson events on Thursday, June 25, 2026, continuing its commitment to water safety education and inclusive family experiences. 

This year, The Funplex Mount Laurel will mark its 9th year participating in the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson™ (WLSL), a global water safety initiative that helps teach children and families the importance of swim instruction, water awareness, and drowning prevention. 

In addition to the main WLSL event at Mount Laurel, The Funplex will expand its sensory-friendly swim offerings with free Sensory-Friendly Swim Lessons at both Mount Laurel and East Hanover. These 30-minute group lessons are designed for children who may benefit from a calmer, more supportive learning environment while building comfort, confidence, and essential water safety skills. 

The Mount Laurel Sensory-Friendly Swim Lesson returns for its second year and will be offered in partnership with British Swim School. The Funplex East Hanover will host its first-ever Sensory Friendly Swim Lesson this year in partnership with Five Star Swim School. 

Due to an overwhelming community response, both Sensory-Friendly Swim Lessons are currently full. Families are encouraged to join the waitlists below. Waitlist registrants will be notified if spots become available and may also receive updates about future sensory-friendly swim events at The Funplex.

Funplex anticipates more than 400 children and parents to be onsite to participate in the WLSL sensory-friendly and general population events.

• Up to 50 happy children with sensory considerations “making a splash” in the Island Pool as they learn important swimming fundamentals for water safety 

• Specially trained instructors combining sensory-friendly skills, compassion, and a swimming expertise sense to embrace children with sensory needs in the fun and fulfillment of learning 

• Happy families “drying off” before heading to a day of fun and entertainment at the Funplex 

• More than 150 other children in the Splashplex participating in the general WLSL instruction—contributing to lessons happening simultaneously in approximately 20 other countries and hundreds of aquatic facilities worldwide.

In addition to the free swim lesson, participating families will receive $10 off all-day wristbands on June 25, giving guests the opportunity to extend the fun after their lesson.
