The African American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey (AACCNJ) announced that Dr. Boyce Watkins will be the keynote speaker at its Third Annual Juneteenth Black Business Expo on June 12, at The College of New Jersey in Ewing, in the Brower Student Center.

Dr. Watkins is a finance Ph.D., bestselling author, speaker and founder of The Black Business School. In addition to publishing scholarly articles on finance and investing, Dr. Watkins is an advocate for education, economic empowerment and social justice. He has appeared on various media outlets including CNN, “Good Morning America,” MSNBC and Fox News.

Dr. Watkins will speak on the topic of resilience and provide his expertise on legacy, leadership and success during a fireside chat with John E. Harmon Sr., IOM, founder, president & CEO of AACCNJ. The format will be a 30-minute discussion, followed by a 30-minute audience Q&A. This is a closed event to the press and video recording is not allowed by audience members. The fireside chat is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. and will take place on the second floor of the Student Center in room 225.

“We are pleased with Dr. Watkins’ attendance; it is significant to have his participation at the Juneteenth Black Business Expo,” said John E. Harmon Sr. “His remarks will be timely in the current economic environment. Reciprocity and accountability are our reframe at this time. One-off conversation will not get it done. We are committed to providing value in partnership with the public, private and community sectors throughout New Jersey.”

The expo, themed “Resilience is our Heritage,” will be a dynamic, educational and collaborative event focusing on entrepreneurship and the economic and cultural empowerment of underperforming communities. The Juneteenth Expo provides a forum to highlight African American entrepreneurs from various business sectors along with corporations, Black-owned businesses, community partners and state agencies, each of which will display their products and services in a transformed exhibit space that incorporates the history of Black Wall Street and Black entrepreneurial excellence.

The expo will also feature a Health Fair presented by Capital Health and Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of NJ. There will be matchmaking opportunities for business owners; financial planning one-on-one engagements with Prudential Financial; and panel discussions. New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy will be in attendance for the third consecutive year to make remarks as a special guest.
