Virtual Women’s Equality Day Panel Hosted by TESU

Wednesday, August 26, 2020 (10:00 AM - 12:00 PM) (EDT)

Description

Register Today for NJ Women Vote’s Virtual Women’s Equality Day Celebration! August 26, 2020, Women’s Equality Day, will mark 100 years since the adoption of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. NJ Women Vote will commemorate this significant anniversary by inviting New Jerseyans of all ages to celebrate the women who have led and continue to lead our state government.

The Women’s Equality Day celebration, co-sponsored by the New Jersey Division on Women (a division of the Department of Children and Families) and hosted virtually by Thomas Edison State University, will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. via Zoom

The event will feature a special panel of dynamic women in state government, moderated by Debbie Walsh, Director of the Center for American Women in Politics, a unit of the Eagleton Institute at Rutgers University. Panelists include: New Jersey Lieutenant Governor Sheila Oliver, Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill, New Jersey Senator M. Teresa Ruiz, and former New Jersey Governor Christine Todd Whitman. Secretary of State Tahesha Way and First Lady Tammy Murphy will provide opening remarks. The event will conclude with powerful performances from poet Susanna Rich and professional storyteller Queen Nur. Through the Women’s Equality Day celebration, we hope to not only feature and learn from leaders in our state, but to inspire the next generation of civically engaged women.

Register, free of charge, today: https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_TpuzWzARQW2R0hasmNPZzw

This event will also be broadcast live on the New Jersey Department of State YouTube channel. We want to hear from you! Do you have a question for our Women’s Equality Day panelists? Email your question(s) to Greer Luce, Chief Communications Officer at the New Jersey Historical Commission: greer.luce@sos.nj.gov. Your question may be featured during panelist Q&A!
