Year-End Tax Planning and the Coronavirus Pandemic

Wednesday, November 18, 2020 (3:00 PM - 4:00 PM) (EST)

Description

To say 2020 has been a rollercoaster ride is an understatement. We’ve managed through a global pandemic with worldwide lockdowns, massive social and economic unrest, and the largest global economic recession since the Great Depression. To top it all off, 2020 is an election year.

These events have impacted businesses across the globe, but there is a glimmer of light. Governments worldwide have worked diligently to create and pass legislation to help businesses and individuals survive the perils brought on by 2020. In the US, we’ve looked at the CARES Act and the Paycheck Protection Program to name a few.

Join us for an informative webinar packed with crucial information that both businesses and individuals should think through as 2020 comes to a close and we look forward to 2021. In this session, we will review the following:

  • The View from the Hill: The Lame Duck session could yield a few surprises –this pivotal moment comes post-election as both the Biden transition team and the Trump administration have vastly different goals for 2021. We’ll take a deeper dive into what we’re seeing for the next 60 days on both the possible changes or what the status quo will bring
  • Federal Tax: CARES Act and Year-End Planning, PPP Loan Forgiveness and Expense Deductibility, Post-Election Federal Income Tax Planning, Employer Telecommuting Issues
  • Individual Tax: Required Tax Payments, Suspension of Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs), Charitable Contributions Planning, Employee Telecommuting Issues
  • Compensation & Benefits: 2020 Annual Bonus Payments, Conversion of Traditional IRA to a Roth IRA, Exercise of Nonqualified Compensatory Stock Options, Establishment and/or Contributions to Retirement Plans, Early 2021 Considerations
  • International Tax: Global Telecommuting/Travel Restrictions Implications, Worthless Stock Deductions, IP Valuations, and Transfer Pricing Arrangements

Live event participants can earn up to 1 CPE credit in the Taxes field of study.
