On January 9, the New Jersey Legislature held its Reorganization meetings for the 221st Legislative Session. In the New Jersey Senate, Senator Nick Scutari was selected to serve a second term as Senate President. Additionally, Senator Teresa Ruiz was selected to serve another term as Senate Majority Leader. The Senate Republican Caucus elected Senator Tony Bucco to serve as Senate Minority Leader, continuing the role he took on last year after Senator Steve Oroho he was stepping down as Minority Leader. In the New Jersey General Assembly, Speaker Craig Coughlin was selected to a fourth term as Assembly Speaker making him the longest serving Speaker in state history. Majority Leader Lou Greenwald was once again chosen to serve as Assembly Majority Leader in the new Session. In the Assembly Republican Caucus, Assemblyman John DiMaio was elected to serve another term as the Assembly Minority Leader. South Jersey Legislators also received new Chair roles in the General Assembly for the new legislative session: Other South Jersey Legislators who will continue to serve as Chairs in the new Session are as follows: Senate Committee Chairs have yet to be announced.
