Governor Murphy Lifts Indoor Dining Capacity to 50 Percent

COVID-19 Legislative Updates Legislative Updates 220th Legislative Session
On March 10, Governor Murphy announced he is signing an Executive Order allowing restaurants and certain businesses to increase indoor capacity to 50 percent effective at 6 a.m. March 19.

The Order applies to restaurants and bars, personal care businesses, and recreation and amusement businesses — including casinos and gyms. Employees are not counted in the capacity limits. Seating at bars will still prohibited.

The Order also increases the number of people allowed at gatherings to 25 people indoors and 50 people outdoors. This will not effect religious services or ceremonies, political events, weddings, funerals, memorial services or performances, which are under different guidance.

The text of the Order will be found here once it is available.
