Governor Murphy Unveils the "One Jersey Pledge" and Statewide Business Survey Results

219th Legislative Session COVID-19 Legislative Updates Legislative Updates
On June 11, Governor Murphy unveiled the "One Jersey Pledge,” which lays out a series of safety protocols that businesses should agree to when reopening to demonstrate they have taken steps to keep employees, customers and their premises safe.

The pact will provide reopening signage for businesses stating they vow to provide appropriate personal protective equipment, sanitation measures, proper training, and require employees to stay home if they have symptoms of the virus. Additionally, there is an employee pledge portion of the pact, which states all employees will wash their hands frequently, wear face coverings, undergo health screenings when they arrive at work, and clean high-touch areas frequently.

Once additional detail become available on the One Jersey Pledge, the CCSNJ will share that information with members.

The Governor also released the results of an online survey conducted in conjunction with Rutgers University's Heldrich Center for Workforce Development earlier this month that drew responses from nearly 4,000 businesses and non-profits across the state.

A majority of owners (51%) cited consumer confidence as the most pressing issue, while 13% cited access to personal protective equipment as their biggest concern. Approximately one in 10 said employee confidence would present the biggest challenge to reopening while four in 10 listed employee confidence as one obstacle but not the most pressing one.
