Legislative Update: Governor Murphy Announces $100 million to Economic Recovery

On October 13, Governor Phil Murphy stood with Lieutenant Governor Oliver, Senate President Steve Sweeney, Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin, U.S. Senator Bob Menendez, and Congressman Tom Malinowski to announce $100 million in additional Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act funding to support New Jersey residents and businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The $100 million will be divided in the following ways to assist small businesses and residents:

$70 million for Phase 3 of the New Jersey Economic Development Authority’s Small Business Emergency Assistance Grant Program – with $35 million targeted to help our food-service industry & $15 million to help micro-businesses
$10 million for the New Jersey EDA’s PPE Access Program
$15 million to support NJ Department of Community Affairs’ rental assistance programs
$5 million to support food banks, soup kitchens, and other hunger relief
