Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City Looks for Assist to Score Multi-Purpose Gym

Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City Looks for Assist to Score Multi-Purpose Gym

Education nonprofit jumpstarts innovation, collaboration, & education for Atlantic City youth

Atlantic City, NJ, November 29. The Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City (BGCAC) has launched its capital campaign, Go Hoops, which runs now through January 15th. With the community’s help, the Club strives to raise a half a million dollars in support of the Club gymnasium’s renovations.

The renovations for Go Hoops include new basketball court flooring, spectator seating, basketball backboards, recreation equipment, the hiring of a recreation director, and the launch of a $25,000 athletic scholarship for 21st Century Club Kids. According to BGCAC CEO Stephanie Koch, “the gymnasium will serve as a multi-purpose space for recreation, a venue for speaking engagements, a space to highlight and invite arts & humanities exhibitions, and an assembly hall for community meetings and town halls. We are so excited to embark on this next phase of serving the community.”

This innovative project follows on the heels of two highly impactful community campaigns, which included the creation of workforce development programs at the Teen Center: an essential framework where Atlantic City youth receive academic enrichment, trauma informed case management, and job training and career readiness.

The Club gym has been a major highlight for enrollment at the Club since its doors opened on Pennsylvania Avenue in the seventies, and now with the helping hand of the community, BGCAC hopes to reimagine the gym into a hub for the future of Atlantic City- a space to create and build on community ties. Donations of any size are welcomed and appreciated and can be made through www.acbgc.org. While all donors will be acknowledged, donors contributing gifts of $1000 or more will be recognized as community champions in the newly renovated space.

The Boys and Girls Club of Atlantic City is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
