Jefferson Health – New Jersey’s Three Hospitals Nationally Recognized with ‘A’ Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades

Jefferson Health – New Jersey’s Three Hospitals Nationally Recognized with

                         ‘A’ Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades

Voorhees, NJ, May 10, 2022  Jefferson Health’s three New Jersey hospitals -- located in Cherry Hill, Stratford and Washington Township -- were each awarded an ‘A’ in the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade for Spring 2022. This national distinction recognizes Jefferson New Jersey’s achievements in protecting patients from harm and error in the hospital.

The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization, assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D,” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 national performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as systems that hospitals have in place to prevent harm.

“At a time when healthcare organizations are more vital than ever to the communities we serve, it is gratifying to be recognized for our ongoing commitment to safety,” said Brian Sweeney, RN, MHA, FACHE, Jefferson Health – New Jersey President & Chief Operating Officer. “We are honored to have all three of our New Jersey acute care hospitals reach this level of achievement. And we are especially proud of the doctors, nurses, and other valued team members, who have put in place best practice systems and processes to achieve excellent clinical outcomes for our patients.”

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program based exclusively on hospital prevention of medical errors and harms to patients. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the Fall and Spring.

“As our health care system continues to feel the strain of the pandemic, I thank the workforce and leadership of Jefferson Health – New Jersey for sustained commitment to patient safety, day in and day out,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “An ‘A’ Safety Grade is an outstanding achievement, and one that is not possible without a 24/7 effort by the entire health care workforce to protect patients from harm. This community should be proud.”
