The Ritz kicks off it's Summer 2021 series with another talent filled show including theatrical performances, spoken word artists, a live band, vocalists, dancers and more. This "Juneteenth Celebration" held at Ritz Theatre Co. is dedicated to creating awareness as well as unity within our communities across South Jersey, honoring a monumental day in American history. The celebration will take place on June 19th, 2021, 915 White Horse Pike Haddon Township, NJ from 6:00PM to 9:00PM. "We are excited to host an event that represents such an important event in American history" says Bruce Cureless, President of Ritz Theatre Company.
Anam Owili-Eger, a vocalist, classically trained pianist and composer based in Philadelphia, PA will headline the event along side contemporary Jazz singer Gretchen Elise. Anam has performed and worked with artists across various genres including Justin Guarini, Talib Kweli, Deborah Cox, RES and Tim Warfield. The line up also includes Jersey lyricist and community activist, The Authentic, renowned poets The Deaconess and Negus Ayeyedmi as well as rising star rhythm and blues singer, Cheri Pye.
In partnership with the Haddon Township Equity Fund and Authentic Minds, a community based public relations company, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to a Camden based youth multimedia arts education nonprofit, Idea Center for the arts. "We are thankful that the day that provided freedom for slaves in our great country has been mandated as a state holiday and that so many different artists and organizations are coming together to celebrate this great day in America.", says artist and event organizer Maurice "The Authentic" Hayman.
