Samaritan Appoints Lisa Dutterer New COO of the Organization

Samaritan, a not-for-profit, leading provider of home-based primary care, palliative medicine and hospice care, as well as grief support, education and advocacy, is proud to announce that it has named Gibbsboro resident Lisa Dutterer as its new Chief Operating Officer, effective December 2023.

“We are honored to welcome Lisa to our leadership team,” said Phillip W. Heath, president and CEO of Samaritan. “Lisa brings 30+ years of leadership experience in healthcare operations throughout the South Jersey and Philadelphia region to our organization and will be responsible for leading the continued expansion of Samaritan’s life-enhancing care options and service lines, as well as ensuring that we continue to increase access to Samaritan services for everyone in our community, especially those who are most vulnerable, to honor our mission of service and achieve the growth goals set forth in our strategic plan.”

“I have long admired Samaritan as a pillar of our region and am delighted to join the Samaritan team in the role of Chief Operating Officer,” said Dutterer. “I look forward to leading the growth of our service offerings, deepening our community partnerships, and increasing access for each of the communities we serve.”

Dutterer is a dynamic, values-driven healthcare executive who most recently served as vice president, operations at Jefferson Health New Jersey, accountable for overall operations and strategy at Jefferson Health’s Cherry Hill hospital location, as well as divisional and regional responsibilities that included oversight of various service/product lines, clinical ancillary services and support services. Prior to serving in this role, Dutterer also held the roles of chief administrative officer of Jefferson Health New Jersey (2017-2021) and chief administrative officer/vice president, operations at Kennedy University Hospital (2011-2017).

“Lisa’s keen knowledge of hospice and palliative care will serve her well here at Samaritan, and I am certain her leadership experience in quality, organizational culture, finance and healthcare payer relationships will be essential to the continued success of our organization,” continued Heath.

In her role as Chief Operating Officer at Samaritan, Dutterer will oversee all of Samaritan’s clinical services and the clinical management team, as well as play a critical leadership role in the development and execution of initiatives for operations, compliance, human resources, education, finance, information technology, strategic planning, programming, business development and more.

Dutterer is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the Healthcare Leadership Network of the Delaware Valley. She has also served as both a member and chair of the Board at Jefferson Cherry Hill Hospital Surgical Center and has received a number of professional awards and recognitions, including the Partnership in Philanthropy Award from Jefferson’s Office of Institutional Advancement, Women’s C-Suite Success Award from the Philadelphia Business Journal and one of “Leading Ladies: 25 Business Women to Watch in South Jersey Business” from South Jersey Magazine.

Dutterer holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Bridgewater College in Bridgewater, VA, and a Master of Science in physical therapy from Arcadia University in Philadelphia, PA. She currently resides in Gibbsboro, NJ.
