Stockton and Borgata to Host Media Day July 12 for A.C. Summer Jobs Program

Atlantic City, N.J. — For the second straight year, Stockton University has partnered with 15 major Atlantic City businesses to help fill the summer labor shortage with students as part of the Stockton Atlantic City Summer Experience: Live, Work, Learn program.

About 240 students, up from about 140 last summer, are working paid jobs in seven casino hotels, plus AtlantiCare, the Chelsea Economic Development Corporation in Atlantic City and other businesses. The students receive free summer housing at the beachfront Kesselman Hall, paid for by the employers. They are also taking a free college course for credit toward their education.

Nearly 80 of the students are working at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa. Stockton University and the Borgata will host a Media Day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 12 at the casino.

Media will be able to learn more about the program and meet and interview some of the students who are getting experience at the Borgata in a variety of different jobs, from working at the front desk to food and beverage to retail.

Stockton Atlantic City Chief Operating Officer Brian K. Jackson, who helped develop the program, will be on site along with representatives from Borgata to speak to media about the benefits of the program in this challenging labor market.

Media interested in attending should RSVP to Mark Melhorn, associate director of news and media relations, at Mark.Melhorn@stockton.edu or 609-350-3099.
