RE: Innovation Economy Bill Package
DATE: May 11, 2023
The Chamber of Commerce Southern New Jersey (CCSNJ) would like to voice our support for the following bills being considered, which aim to assist new and growing businesses in New Jersey. This bill package provides resources to small businesses that are looking to grow and succeed in the state.
The CCSNJ is pleased to support the following measures:
S-3210/A-4752 (Gopal/Pou/Tully/Benson/Chaparro) - Promotes small business Internet presence.
S-3400/A-4751 (Zwicker/Ruiz/Mosquera/Speight/DeAngelo) - Establishes a mentorship program for new businesses and start-ups.
As written, both bills will assist newly created small businesses, many of which are owned by innovative entrepreneurs looking to succeed. Over the past two years, there has been an increase in entrepreneurs starting new businesses and nonprofits across New Jersey. Due to the pandemic, some individuals saw themselves laid off and decided to create a business of their own, or some business owners that operated during this time had to adapt operations and move to a greater online presence. S-3210/A-4752 (Gopal/Pou/Tully/Benson/Chaparro) will assist small businesses in developing an effective online retail business, as well as enhance their technological skills. This bill will be crucial in helping small retailers modernize and expand their reach.
Additionally, the creation of a mentorship program to match new start-ups with those who are more established will provide invaluable partnerships that will benefit new small business owners by sharing best practices and innovative ideas. S-3400/A-4751 (Zwicker/Ruiz/Mosquera/Speight/DeAngelo) will encourage these critical connections to entrepreneurs, who will undoubtedly benefit from mentorship.
Thank you for allowing the CCSNJ to express our support for these bills before you today. We encourage you to vote yes.
