The Allied Therapist will independently plan and facilitate art activities that are structured, guided and participatory in nature.  Draw from research in the field and own creativity to independently design therapeutic art tasks, with goals of exploring clients’ thoughts and feelings through honest visual and verbal expressions, building family cohesion and encouraging individual growth, increased self-esteem, and catharsis through both art process and product.    Document both client behavior and content of client artwork in progress notes, offering insight into psychological implications of artwork when applicable.  Attend treatment team meetings as time allows in order to communicate clients’ progress in art therapy to the team, and to remain informed in regard to clients’ progress in other spheres. Sessions may occur in office, in home and in the community setting.

 

The Assertive Community Treatment program serves youth ages 5-20 in Atlantic and Cape May Counties.  The Program provides intensive and immediate access to treatment services and supports in youth and family’s home and community. A multidisciplinary mobile team is tailored to each youth and their family and through a family centered approach will focus on crisis stabilization and assisting the youth with improving functioning and symptomology of mental health and emotional concerns. Interventions will assist with enhancing family functioning and overall stability in the family home.  

 

Hours:

Part time, hours vary


Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in art or related field plus one (1) year of experience working with youth with mental health.
