Assistant Dean II, Title IX Director

Summary: 
The Assistant Dean II, Title IX Director, reporting directly to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, holds a critical role in ensuring Title IX compliance across the Rutgers-Camden Campus. This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Title IX case management, from the initial intake through to resolution and case closure. Key responsibilities include managing each case with accuracy and sensitivity, adhering strictly to university protocols, and following federal, state and local laws. This role also involves generating and maintaining detailed reports, managing complex data, and facilitating clear, timely communications.

The Assistant Dean II, Title IX Director must maintain an expert-level understanding of Title IX requirements and stay abreast of any procedural or policy changes enacted by federal or state governments, or Rutgers University itself. In addition to direct case management duties, this position represents the Rutgers-Camden Campus on a range of university-wide Title IX committees and compliance groups. This includes active participation in strategic discussions with across Student Affairs, Human Resources, the Office of General Counsel, the Office of Employment Equity, University Ethics and Compliance, and others that are affiliated with Title IX compliance. Collaborating with these groups, particularly with other university Title IX Directors and the CLU Assistant Dean II, the Title IX Director works to uphold and strengthen the university’s commitment to fostering a safe and equitable environment across the Rutgers-Camden community.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: 

Requires a bachelor’s degree along with 5+ years experience in higher education compliance. Requires extensive experience working with university students on confidential matters – including dean of students, compliance, complaint processes, student conductor academic affairs. Also requires a deep understanding of all of the elements of an effective compliance program and the standards, laws, and regulations impacting Title IX at the federal, state and local levels. Requires maintaining accurate and up to date knowledge regarding these and related regulations and an ability to consistently evaluate and update processes, programs, and procedures relative. Requires in depth understanding of university procedures and policies and organization. Must have demonstrated professional levels of organizational, facilitation, written and oral communication and presentation skills. Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills that promote a willingness to work collaboratively with all levels of the organization to meet objectives. Must have an ability to work independently and make sound decisions with good judgement with limited oversight.

Requires extensive knowledge of Title IX policy and procedures at the federal and state levels as well as at universities. Experience in handling sensitive confidential matters with university student populations is highly recommended.


Preferred Qualifications: 

Preference will be given to candidates with any of these preferred qualifications: Master’s or J.D. degree. Certificate in compliance. Prefer Strongly direct Title IX compliance experience in a higher education setting or university conduct experience. Demonstrated ability to design and implement programs/policies useful in ensuring compliance and regulatory compliance. 


Physical Demands & Work Environment: 

This position may require occasional travel between Rutgers campuses. This role may also, at times, require flexibility on work schedule, beyond traditional office hours, including evenings and weekends.
