The Faculty of Arts and Sciences are the largest academic unit at Rutgers–Camden, delivering a wide array of degree programs at the baccalaureate, master’s, and doctoral levels in the humanities, natural sciences, social sciences, and fine arts. The Faculty of Arts and Sciences includes three schools: the College of Arts and SciencesUniversity College, and the Graduate School


Summary: 

Rutgers University-Camden is seeking an Assistant Dean III for the Graduate School-Camden. The Assistant Dean III reports directly to the Associate Dean of the Graduate School-Camden. This position supports the operations of the Graduate School and administers the oversight and the communications of the School’s academic policies to its students, programs, and faculty. The Assistant Dean also oversees graduation certification compliance as it relates to coursework, capstone, thesis, and dissertation reviews, and ETD submissions. The Assistant Dean also develops and implements targeted programs and initiatives designed to retain and support students through engagement, professional development, and research initiatives. Related event planning includes fall and spring orientations, commencement, student mixers, professional development seminars, guest speaker series, and Research Week activities that highlight the creative and scientific contributions of graduate students. The Assistant Dean interacts with key offices across campus in support of these operational, student development and event planning tasks including Admissions, Financial Aid, International Students Office, Dean of Students Office, Office of Scholar Development, and the Career Center. The Assistant Dean supervises graduate students who work for the Graduate School in various capacities.


 Minimum Education & Experience: 

 B.A. or B.S. degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and/or experience, plus 5 years' experience {certification, license or advanced degree} 


Preferred Qualifications: 

Master’s degree, or comparable professional experience; strong writing, analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills; at least five years combined experience in higher education administration/recruiting/support position(s) and academic policy and/or event planning experience. 


Equipment Utilized: 

The individual should have strong skills in word processing, spreadsheet programs, knowledge in data management and systems, and the ability to use search engines/large data. This Assistant Dean will also navigate Rutgers University’s programs in admissions, marketing, registrar, and others. 


Physical Demands & Work Environment: 

Availability to work in person, some travel, and some evenings and occasional weekends.
