Posting Summary:
Reporting to the Business Specialist Spvr in the Rutgers University–Camden Shared Services Center, the Business Assistant I works under general supervision carrying out routine and non-routine fiscal and business operations tasks, with occasional review of work outputs by supervisor. This position performs transactional work, with transactions related to procurement, payroll, human resources and other relative processes for a full range of business operations activities. In this position the candidate will process requests in Marketplace including requisitions, PO modifications and PO closeouts. Processes various payroll related tasks such as time entry, Ad Hoc salary requests, Kronos record creation, and absence reporting. The candidate will process supplier management requests such as new supplier requests, invoice submissions, and provides excellent customer service.
The incumbent in this position will need strong communication skills, as they will work closely and regularly with Share Services Center staff and will be required to deliver services with a strong customer service focus. The incumbent must possess the willingness to adapt to the changes happening in a growing department. In addition to this, the incumbent must be able to operate as a team player with our Shared Services team.

Minimum Education & Experience:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

· Two years’ relevant experience.
· Excellent analytical skills and a proactive approach to problem solving.
· Proficient technical knowledge with business tools like Microsoft Office Suite.
· Proficient in internet browser usage and general computer literacy.
· Rutgers specific systems knowledge preferred, such as Oracle Cloud Suite products that consist of SciQuest, Financial Management, Expense Management, and Marketplace.
· Knowledge of grant parameters, including allowable and unallowable expenses.
