
Construction Pre-Apprenticeship Program Instructor
Position Overview:
The Training and Apprenticeships for Careers in Construction (TACC) Pre-Apprenticeship Program Instruction plays a critical role in delivering and supporting a high-quality pre-apprenticeship program serving high school students and out-of-school young adults in Burlington and Camden counties. This position combines instruction, case management, and workforce development support to guide participants through the CORE (Construction Orientation Readiness Education) technical skills curriculum and our essential workplace readiness training. The Pre-Apprenticeship Program Associate is responsible for helping participants build the skills, confidence, and connections needed to enter employment or Registered Apprenticeship Programs in the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities
-Deliver the Construction Orientation Readiness Education (CORE) program to multiple cohorts, ensuring an engaging and supportive learning environment.
-Conduct outreach and recruitment efforts in coordination with schools, community organizations, and workforce partners.
-Provide case management services, including one-on-one support, mentorship, life skills, and connection to supportive services.
-Track participant attendance, progress, and outcomes; maintain detailed case notes and perform accurate data entry.
-Contribute to monthly grant reporting and monitor participant-related budget items and spending.
-Build and maintain relationships with construction employers, unions, and apprenticeship programs and other industry partners, to support participant placements.
-Implement job readiness and job placement activities, including resume development, interview prep, and referrals to employment or apprenticeships.
Qualifications
• Ability to become a certified CORE Instructor; paid by company. Must have proficiency in hand
and power tool use, safety protocols, and construction site practices.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience working with young people (ages 16–24).
• Training or education in a construction-related field such as HVAC, carpentry, electrical,
plumbing, OR, a bachelor’s degree in human services, education, or workforce development,
with other experience in the construction industry.
• Experience facilitating group instruction or training, preferably construction-related content,
technical skills, or career readiness.
• Strong case management skills, including the ability to provide individualized support and
connect participants to community resources.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and motivate
diverse youth populations.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain detailed records and
data for grant reporting.
• Strong relationship-building skills with employers, training providers, schools, and community
partners.
• Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently and collaboratively as part of
a team.
• Familiarity with Burlington and Camden County communities and youth-serving organizations is
a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic data systems.
• Must have a reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, and insurance (mileage reimbursement is
provided).
• Flexible work schedule, hybrid, with a minimum of three office days per week. Saturday
availability is required during active program cohorts, with one additional weekday off each
week during that time.
• This is a full-time salaried position, commensurate with experience. Health and dental
contributions begin after 90 days of employment.
