Kaye Personnel is seeking a highly-qualified Professional with an educational background in Accounting or Finance to join our dynamic team! This individual will become an in-office Assistant Controller for an Agricultural Wholesale Supplier in Vineland, NJ. The ideal candidate will be required to have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance, several years of experience in a public or non-public accounting environment, proficient in accounting systems, ethical conduct, and strong performance management.

Job Title: Assistant Controller

Location: Vineland, NJ

Salary: $75,000 to $95,000 per year

Schedule: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday

This position is Direct Hire.

Job Summary

  • The Assistant Controller will be responsible for maintaining accounting controls and providing accurate financial information to executive management to facilitate decision making. It is extremely important that the candidate be confident and proactive in addressing accounting issues and in bringing them to the attention of the Controller. The position will be responsible for the safeguard of assets, the maintenance of an effective internal control environment, and enhancing the performance of the business.
  • The focus of this position is on accuracy and attention to detail while managing specialized work efficiently, with confidence and competence. Initiative, coupled with a sense of internal drive and the ability to stay focused, is the key to achieving the performance objectives of this job.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with management of accounting, reporting, and budgeting within the organization.
  • Recommendations and proper adjustments as needed to accommodate strategic, compliance, and industry changes.
  • Assist in preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and implementation of new accounting standards.
  • Work closely with the Controller and Management to develop detailed budgets, forecasts, and capital plans, including the development of product and project costing.
  • Perform weekly cash forecasting to optimize cash management and ensure effective working capital management.
  • Responsible for monthly budget to actual reports and variance analysis to department and communication of significant variances to management.
  • Work closely with accounting, sales, operations, and other departments to identify, investigate, and analyze potential operational improvements across the organization.
  • Assist with the management and oversight of third-party administrator relationships.
  • Proactively drive process improvements, efficiency, and reporting enhancements.
  • Evaluate accounting and internal control processes, offer recommendations for improvement, and help to implement new processes.
  • Contributes to the supervision of the staff accountant as well as the AR and AP staff.
  • Responsible for and managing the month end close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations and accuracy of balance sheet accounts.
  • Coordinate tax reporting with the company’s outside CPA firm.
  • Perform account reconciliations as needed.
  • Helps to maintain the department’s financial reporting files used for stockholder and bank reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5+ years of public or non-public accounting experience required
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience required
  • Certified Public Accountant a plus
