Director of Workforce Development
Job Description:
The Director of Workforce Development is responsible for leading and implementing strategic workforce development initiatives that align with organizational goals and address the skills needs of the workforce. In addition, the Director of Workforce Development is responsible for leading the Human Resources department which include talent acquisition, employee development, performance management, and compliance.
Job Summary:
Directs and oversees all components of the human resources function to recruit, retain and motivate a quality, effective and efficient workforce, including workforce development (learning and development), talent acquisition, performance management, employee relations, compensation and benefits, and human resources technology. Works with the leadership team, senior managers and support staff to monitor and manage Bestwork compliance with Federal and State Programs (AbilityOne and ACCESES NJ). This position reports to the President & CEO.
The individual in this position will have the following key responsibilities:
Strategy and Planning:
• Develop and implement a comprehensive workforce development strategy to meet organizational and community needs.
• Assess labor market trends and align training programs with emerging industry demands.
• Collaborate with leadership to foster a culture of engagement, inclusivity, and accountability.
Partnership Development:
• Build and maintain strategic partnerships with educational institutions, government agencies, and community organizations.
• Collaborate with industry stakeholders to identify skills gaps and create targeted training solutions.
Talent Acquisition and Management:
• Oversee the recruitment process, ensuring the attraction and selection of diverse and qualified candidates.
• Implement onboarding and orientation programs to facilitate new employee integration.
Compliance:
• Develop and maintain HR policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Ensure that all HR practices align with best practices in the non-profit sector.
• Stay informed on best practices and innovations in workforce training and development.
Employee Relations:
• Serve as a trusted advisor to Leadership and management on HR-related issues, fostering a positive work environment.
• Mediate and resolve employee conflicts and concerns in a fair and timely manner.
Compensation and Benefits:
• Oversee compensation structures and benefits administration to attract and retain talent.
• Conduct market research to ensure competitiveness and equity in compensation practices.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI):
• Promote and implement DEI initiatives to create a more inclusive workplace.
• Monitor and report on diversity metrics and progress.
To Be Successful:
Candidates must be able to provide superior service delivery while working in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment. It is essential that the individual in this role have strong organizational and communication skills. In addition:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field. SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
• Experience: 5 years of Human Resources management, with 3 years in a director-level role.
• Experience: Thorough knowledge of employment related laws and regulations.
Skills:
• Strong understanding of labor market trends, workforce planning, and adult learning principles.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaborative with diverse teams.
