
Edit/Media Specialist-Social Media Manager

Responsibilities Include:
- Creates and follows an editorial calendar and schedule aligning with University’s academic calendar to assist with content planning and execution
- Generates, edits, publishes and shares content (original text, images, and video) that encourages community engagement with the university
- Assists other department staff with moderating user-generated content (posts, tweets, comments, etc.)
- Monitors conversations and responds to user-generated comments and questions posted on university accounts
- Optimizes pages within each platform to increase visibility of University’s social content
- Collaborates with University departments and units to manage reputation, identify key players, coordinate university event coverage, and content sharing/re-purposing through work performed

Minimum Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education in related field or equivalent combination of education and/ or experience, plus two (2) years of social media and/or content creation portfolio experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Excellent content creation skills
- Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem-solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
- Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e. Microsoft Office suite, Canva, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail and follow-up skills
- Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
- Requires knowledge of all social media platforms and/or the ability to quickly learn the platforms and create content for them.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in short-form video storytelling from concept and shooting to editing.
- Able and willing to work at a fast pace
- Ability to quickly master new technologies
- Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines
Equipment Utilized:
Mobile phone, camera for photography and video.
