Facilities Manager

Description of responsibilities: 

  • Conduct route inspections of premises and all equipment.
  • Handle basic repairs and maintenance.  Repair machines, equipment or structures, as required.  Address and perform general plumbing issues.  Install and assemble equipment.
  • Oversee contractors when professional repairs are required.  Supervise all contracted maintenance staff and maintenance related activities.  Delegate and assign tasks to appropriate personnel.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and correct, as required.
  • Recommend the hire and termination of contracted maintenance, as required to contract organization.
  • Keep facility operational, presentable and safe, including, but not limited to general cleaning, waste removal, and weather-related maintenance.
  • Chair the Safety Committee.  Take lead in ensuring proper safety guidelines are followed by all personnel.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Required experience: 

  • 5 years’ prior maintenance experience.  Experience with precision measuring instruments or electronic testing devices.  Experience performing routine maintenance.  Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Skilled in the use offhand and power tools.  Ability to take apart machines, equipment, or devices to remove and replace defective parts.  Ability to check blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogues, as necessary. 
  • Ability to use common tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches.
  • Ability to lift up to 45 pounds.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft software, e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook.
