Instructional Lab Specialist
Summary:
The Rutgers School of Nursing-Camden is seeking a Nursing Simulation Lab Specialist. The incumbent will have at least 2 years of clinical experience, and a nursing degree. Must have firsthand experience of the industry and current certification as a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE). Be familiar with both PC and Mac operating systems as well as Microsoft Office.
The incumbent should be a visionary and able to coordinate internal affairs with academic partners and interdepartmental continuing education projects, understand research and development related to simulation activities and disseminates the information. Familiarity with the performance improvement process and take a systems approach to improve patient safety and student success. Emphasis will be placed upon the Institute of Medicine’s (IOM) conclusion that the major cause of adverse events is poorly designed systems, not negligent individual performance.

The Rutgers School of Nursing-Camden Center for Excellence in Inter-professional Practice, Education, and Innovation (CEIPEI) provides opportunities for active learning, promotes interprofessional collaboration, and stimulates innovation in nursing education and practice. The CEIPEI is accredited by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH). Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and or experience plus two years of applicable experience.
- NJ Licensed Registered Professional Nurse
- Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSE) certification, obtain certification within one year of hire, or other similar certification.
- Clinical experience with a strong focus on population health: pediatrics, adult health, and Advance Practice Nursing as well as extensive simulation experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Certification as a Health Simulation Educator (CHSE)
Equipment Utilized:
Incumbent will be familiar with operation of common office equipment (copier/computer/printer/ fax/ etc. as well as clinical simulation lab equipment mentioned above. Laerdal simulator and Sim Link. MS software applications.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, stand, move from one area of the building to another on a regular basis, sit and use a computer for a long period of time.
- The person in this role must be able to independently lift and maneuver objects weighing up to 100 pounds.
- Manual and physical dexterity needed to operate a computer keyboard and handle paper documents.
- Sufficient near vision acuity to read information appearing on computer display screen, in hand- written forms, and printed on paper.
- Adequate hearing and verbal abilities to communicate effectively in person and by telephone.
