Port Equipment Mechanic


POSITION SUMMARY

The Heavy Truck and Port Equipment service support group is tasked with providing leadership, training and direct local assistance to Equipment Depot branch personnel, with the goal of delivering “Best in Class”, service and parts support to our customers. The HTPE Field Service Support is responsible for assisting the Manager of HTPE Service Support.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  • Assist leadership on Heavy Truck and Port Equipment projects as assigned by Manager HTPE Service Support; including internal and external projects. The successful candidate will have the ability to travel up to 50% and be flexible enough to manage and prioritize multiple projects.
  • Participate at the branch level to assist in identifying technical and operational capabilities. Provide feedback to Manager HTPE Service Support and help draft action plans to ensure the branch meets operational requirements to provide customers and prospects, “Best in Class” service and support.
  • Assist in the hiring of technicians providing hiring managers assessments for prospective Heavy Truck and Port Equipment technicians.
  • Coordinate with the Manager of HTPE Service Support on critical deliveries and provide direct on-site leadership of delivery, assembly and disassembly of products Equipment Depot supports. Supervise on-site teams to complete work.
  • Ensure that Equipment Depot personnel involved with HTPE follow OSHA, legal and company requirements for SAFE PRACTICE to the job site, on the job site, and returning from the job site.
  • Partner cross-functionally with other departments to organize internal resources to drive improvements and establish “Best in Class” behaviors at every Equipment Depot location both internally and externally.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and improve operations and support. Assist in the development and roll out “Best in Class” scalable processes that enhance customer and internal stakeholder experience and improve ongoing organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Other duties as assigned

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)

Experience:

  • 5 years of experience servicing and maintaining industrial or automotive equipment or 3 years of experience servicing and maintaining heavy truck and port equipment.
  • Knowledge of Port and Rail operations. (Preferred / Not Required)
  • Working knowledge and experience in mobile crane rigging and signaling (Preferred / Not Required)

Certificates & Licenses:

  • Valid US driver license and clean driving record
  • TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credential) or ability to obtain
  • Cummins and Volvo Engine Certifications or ability to obtain

Computer Skills:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Knowledge of Google G-Suite products.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems
