Full Job Description

JOB GOAL

The Strang School is recruiting a Substitute School Nurse to provide services to youth in our Special Education and Alternative Schools. Candidates will manage a caseload of youth that are educated at the Strang School. In this role the applicant will interact with youth, parents, clinicians, residential treatment staff and sending school districts.

QUALIFICATIONS

Valid New Jersey substitute certification for School Nurse. NJ Licensed RN’s are eligible, pending receipt of the substitute certification.

Knowledge of current and effective health practices for children/adults.

Knowledge of development and implementation of mandated health practices for schools including health screenings, immunization, individualized health plans and school emergency procedures

Must be current in certifications for AED, CPR and First Aid

Ability to maintain a positive and professional work environment.

Able to handle behavioral distraction/interruptions daily while maintaining strong and effective health practices.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Proficiency with technology resources.

Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship.

REPORTS TO

Principal and Designated Administrators.

SUPERVISES

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Able to be available on a per diem basis

Pay: $40.00 per hour

  • On call

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Alloway, NJ 08001: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

License/Certification:

  • BLS Certification (Preferred)
  • RN License (Required)
  • Driver's License (Required)
