Swim Instructor
Essential Function
Under the supervision of Aquatics Management, the Swim Instructor will teach swim courses per Kroc standards and policies. The Swim Instructor will advise and promote Kroc Aquatics programming to members, guests, and external contacts. They will also evaluate students' progress, provide feedback, complete attendance, progress, and accident reports, and ensure that all equipment is in good working order.

Specifically, the primary duties are:
- Create a welcoming environment for participants, orient them on all class procedures, and ensure classes are fun, interesting, and engaging for all students.
- Teach scheduled classes, beginning and ending on time.
- Teach swimming techniques, strokes, and water safety rules to students with varying swimming abilities.
- Assist more experienced swimmers in enhancing their swimming abilities.
- Assess the progress of students and adjust teaching programs accordingly.
- Implement ground rules for each swim session.
- Plan swimming lessons that take into account students' abilities and progressive development.
- Identify incorrect swimming techniques and correct students accordingly.
- Ensure that the swimming pool is kept clean and tidy.
- Practice safe work habits and contribute to the safety of the Kroc Center, co-workers, and the public.
- Wear standard apparel and exhibit a professional appearance while on duty.
- Ensure that the goal of spiritual, emotional, and physical regeneration of all people is represented and infused in all programs, training, customer relations, and levels of operation.
- Carry out The Salvation Army mission in actions and words during employment.
- Perform related duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Water Safety Instructor (WSI) preferred.
- Proven experience working as a swim instructor or lifeguard. Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be accepted.
- Strong swimming abilities (will be tested).
- Previous customer service experience preferred.
- Commit to flexible working hours, including weekends, holidays, and evenings.
- Must understand and support the mission of The Salvation Army.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 19 per week
