Uber Eats and Visa are introducing Grants for Growth, a new grant program that provides $1 million in grants to small businesses that have been impacted by COVID, hurricanes, natural disasters and other unexpected events. Through the program, $10,000 grants will be provided to 100 Uber Eats member restaurants to support expenses such as payroll​, vendor payments, ​rent and utilities ​and upgrading technology infrastructure. ​

Santander Bank’s Cultivate Small Business program is designed to help early - stage women, minority, and immigrant entrepreneurs working to build and sustain food - related businesses in emerging neighborhoods in New Jersey. The 12-week, fully virtual program runs from April 19th – the end of June, 2022 and is completely free. The program provides industry-specific education, networks, and mentoring, along with the opportunity to apply for capital grants for your business. Applications are due January 28, 2022.

The Philadelphia Flyers and Wells Fargo have re-launched the Flyers Hometown Assist program, which will award a half-million dollars in free advertising assets to five local small businesses impacted by COVID-19. An additional ten small businesses will receive a hospitality suite for a Flyers game.

On December 3, the New Jersey Economic Development Authority announced that applications are open for the Offshore Wind Tax Credit Program. Eligible applicants can receive tax credits, often up to 40-60 percent of a project’s qualified capital investments, which can be applied against corporate business tax or insurance premiums. Tax credits are released in increments of 20 percent of the total credit amount per year for five years. Businesses can also sell their tax credits for at least 75 percent of the credit amount.

On November 17, the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) released for public feedback updated rules for the Emerge Program as amended by P.L. 2021, c. 160. The Emerge Program is New Jersey’s new job creation incentive program created under the Economic Recovery Act. Through the program, small and large businesses, as well as non-profits, can apply for tax credits to support projects that meet minimum capital investment, job creation or retention, and other requirements.

On November 10, the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) approved the creation of the Main Street Micro Business Loan, which will provide financing of up to $50,000 to eligible micro businesses in New Jersey with ten or fewer full-time employees and no greater than $1.5 million in annual revenues. The Program is the successor to the Micro Business Loan Program established by the NJEDA in 2019.

On November 10, the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) approved rules for the Aspire Program, a place-based economic development program created under the New Jersey Economic Recovery Act of 2020 (ERA).The Aspire Program encourages mixed use, transit-oriented development in New Jersey by providing tax credits to commercial and residential development projects that have a financing gap.

On November 10, the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) released for public feedback rules for the Net Operating Loss (NOL) Program as updated under the New Jersey Economic Recovery Act of 2020 (ERA), including new measures to support woman- and minority-owned businesses. Members of the public are encouraged to review the preliminary rules and submit written feedback through an online form available on the Economic Recovery Act website.

USDA is making this funding available under the Rural Business Development Grant program for eligible entities to support business opportunity and enterprise projects in rural communities. The U.S. Economic Development Administration recently announced six grant programs to disburse $3 billion of American Rescue Plan funding. The American Rescue Plan funding enables the U.S. EDA to provide flexible funding to support community-led economic development. The American Rescue Plan will directly benefit previously underserved communities impacted by COVID-19 through a series of six innovative challenges.

New Jersey businesses and residents affected by flash flooding on July 12, 2021 may apply for low-interest disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration. On April 27, the U.S. Small Business Administration (S.B.A.) announced it will begin registrations on Friday, April 30, 2021, at 9 a.m. and open applications on Monday, May 3, 2021, at noon for the Restaurant Revitalization Fund (RFF). On April 14, the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) announced Phase 4 of the Small Business Emergency Assistance Grant Program, adding $85 million in funds from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. Phase 4 will provide short-term operating support to a broad group of New Jersey small and medium sized businesses and non-profits that have been negatively impacted during the declared state of emergency. On April 6, the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA)announced that applications are now open for the New Jersey Zero Emission Incentive Program (NJ ZIP). The $15 million pilot program will provide vouchers for up to $100,000 to businesses and institutional organizations in the greater Newark and Camden areas to support the purchase of new, zero emission medium and heavy-duty vehicles (MHDVs) such as pickup trucks, vans, busses, and box trucks.

On March 22, the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) announced it will extend the deadline of the NJ Small and Micro Business PPE Access Program through Friday, May 28th, 2021 or until program funds are exhausted. New Jersey businesses with 100 or fewer full-time equivalent employees (FTEs) will be able to receive discounts of nearly 70 percent off purchases of personal protective equipment (PPE).
